Martin Galstyan: Positive sentiment regarding a possible resolution of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict is a key factor in strengthening the ruble

ArmInfo. Positive sentiment  regarding a potential swift resolution of the Ukrainian crisis, the  freezing of the Russian- Ukrainian conflict, and the ensuing  negotiations play a significant role in strengthening the ruble. A  similar opinion was expressed by Martin Galstyan, the Chairman of the  Central Bank of Armenia, during a press conference on March 18.

He emphasized that this sentiment is dominant among market players.  Referring to the expected telephone conversation between the  Presidents of the United States and Russia, Galstyan noted: "In  anticipation of this, certain expectations have formed, which have a  positive impact on the value of Russian assets."

It should be noted that this year, on the retail currency market of  Armenia, the dram weakened against the Russian ruble from January to  March 18 from AMD 3.7 to AMD 4.74/1RUB on average. But the ruble has  strengthened especially strongly in the last two days.
