ArmInfo. Armenia is entering a new stage of digital development. RA Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan posted this on his Facebook page.
According to him, by the decision of the RA Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC), Viva Armenia was granted 2300-2350 MHz and 2350-2400 MHz radio frequency bands for a 10 year period to further expand 5G mobile broadband technology. "The company has transferred 2.5 billion drams to the state budget. Viva Armenia has committed to providing mobile Internet coverage to 98% of highways within 3 years, with at least 10% using 5G technology," the Minister noted.
He also said that the company has committed to providing 20% of the territory of Yerevan, Gyumri, Vanadzor and Kapan, as well as the Engineering City, Zvartnots, Gyumri, and Kapan airports with 5G within three years. They also plan to provide all existing and new border customs points with full 5G coverage. "In 5 years, the above-mentioned cities should have 40% coverage of the 5G network, and "Akademgorod" - by 100%. Additionally, within 7 years, the company will provide 60% of all urban communities in Armenia with 5G technology."
