ArmInfo. On April 8, RA Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan received Iva Petrova, outgoing Chief of the IMF Mission in Armenia. As reported by the press service of the RA government, the meeting was also attended by Umang Rawat, IMF Resident Representative in Armenia, and Alexander Tieman, who will succeed Iva Petrova.
The Deputy Prime Minister pointed out the key importance of cooperation with the IMF for Armenia, especially noting the reforms implemented within the framework of the Reserve Lending Program.
The interlocutors discussed a number of issues related to fiscal and economic policy, and exchanged views on regional developments.
Armenia became a member of the IMF on April 28, 1992. In October last year, following an IMF mission to Armenia from 18 September to 1 October 2024 and subsequent discussions, a working agreement was reached on the fourth review of the three-year IMF-supported Reserve Arrangement. The review was approved by the IMF Executive Board in December 2025, making $24.5 million (SDR 18.4 million) available to the country, bringing the total available funds to $122.7 million (SDR 92 million). The program is precautionary in nature, with borrowed funds aimed at meeting the economy's external financing needs arising from potential future shocks.
