ArmInfo. Armenia and the United Arab Emirates are exploring opportunities for developing bilateral cooperation. This issue was the focus of the participants of the meeting of members of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Armenia (UIE) with the delegation of the Dubai International Chamber held in Yerevan the day before.
According to the UIE report, during the meeting, Director of International Partnerships of the Dubai International Chamber Sumaya Al Shamsi noted that the main goal of their mission to Armenia is to get acquainted with the areas in which bilateral economic cooperation can develop. According to her, there is great interest among businessmen representing Dubai in cooperation with Armenian companies, for which purpose a representative event with the participation of businessmen from both sides is planned to be organized in Yerevan next fall. Prior to this, areas of mutual interest, cooperation opportunities, investment potential and the legal framework will be studied. The delegation plans to hold meetings with various specialized structures and representatives of the business community.
In turn, Vice President of the UAE Nerses Karamanukyan, speaking about economic ties between Armenia and the UAE, expressed confidence in the existence of great potential for their further development. In particular, he indicated the spheres of information technology, electronics, processing of agricultural products, pharmaceuticals, energy, construction, tourism and others as promising areas.
The parties agreed on regular contacts, collecting information on mutual interests of business circles, as well as exchanging necessary information. Let us recall that earlier, the Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia Gevork Papoyan reported that in 2024, the trade turnover between Armenia and the UAE exceeded $5.7 billion.
Meanwhile, according to the data of the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, in January- February 2025, there was a deterioration in the dynamics of exports of Armenian goods to the UAE by several times - up to 81.9% with an accelerated growth in imports of goods from the UAE from 30.7% to 82.1%, the values of which amounted to $226.1 million and $147.7 million, respectively.
