ArmInfo. The credit obligations of several citizens who were allegedly victims of banking fraud have been temporarily frozen. Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank of Armenia Armen Nurbekyan stated this on April 14 at a meeting of the Standing Committee on Financial, Credit and Budgetary Issues, touching upon cases of fraud with online loans.
According to the Deputy Head of the Central Bank, after discussions with the banks, an agreement was reached to thoroughly investigate all aspects of such cases. He also noted that there are cases where citizens themselves provided their bank data to fraudsters - . , he emphasized. According to him, currently the issue is being studied with a focus on whether citizens themselves transferred the data or, perhaps, some banking products require a stricter identification system. The Central Bank is also considering the introduction of mechanisms for managing the consequences in the future, possibly, through a certain insurance system. < That is, are there points that make online lending more vulnerable: All cases are studied separately. Banks found to have made omissions in their products will be punished severely,> Armen Nurbekyan concluded.
