ArmInfo. In January-March 2025, the customs value of 1 kg of gasoline and diesel fuel imported to Armenia has not changed. This is stated in a statement by the Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition of the Republic of Armenia in response to ArmInfo's inquiry regarding why energy prices in the country are not decreasing against the background of the long-term decline in world prices, and whether the situation in the domestic market of the republic is the result of price collusion.
The Commission reported that gasoline and diesel fuel are imported to Armenia mainly from the Russian Federation. The department recalled that in December last year, the Commission applied sanctions against a number of companies, including CPS Energy Group, Flash, Mega Trade and Max Oil. The Commission assured that periodic studies of the gasoline and diesel fuel market show the absence of obvious violations in the field of economic competition.
However, that for several days in a row, world oil prices have been falling amid concerns about demand for raw materials caused by the tariff war between the United States and China. The situation on April 29 was no exception, when the price of July futures for Brent crude fell by 0.94% as of 08.10 am to $64.17 per barrel, and June futures for WTI crude oil fell by 1% to $61.43. Morgan Stanley analysts note that trade tariffs will become a serious obstacle to demand. In the third quarter of last year, the crude oil balance showed a deficit, but later it will turn into a significant surplus.
