ArmInfo. A seminar with the participation of government bodies and businesses of the Eurasian Economic Union countries, dedicated to the development of industry cooperation, identifying and eliminating barriers to mutual trade with Serbia, was held on May 21 at the Eurasian Economic Commission under the chairmanship of the EEC Minister of Trade Andrey Slepnev. As reported by the EEC press service, the event is aimed at intensifying cooperation within the framework of the Free Trade Agreement between the EAEU and its member states, on the one hand, and the Republic of Serbia, on the other hand.
The objective of the seminar is to identify trade barriers faced by exporters of various sectors of the economy when supplying goods to the market of the Republic of Serbia, as well as new opportunities for cooperation and ways to eliminate trade restrictions.
"The proposals voiced at today's event will be worked out in detail together with the member states for possible discussion within the framework of the planned meeting of the Joint Committee for the Implementation of the Agreement with the Republic of Serbia," Andrey Slepnev noted.
In this regard, the EEC Minister recalled the recent fruitful consultations with the Serbian side, as a result of which, from March 3, 2025, quantitative restrictions on the import of vegetable oils and margarine from the EAEU, which had been in effect for one year, were lifted.
The agreement on a free trade zone between the Eurasian Economic Union and its member states, on the one hand, and the Republic of Serbia, on the other hand, was signed on October 25, 2019 and entered into force on July 10, 2021. The agreement provides for the mutual abolition of import customs duties on 93% of the product nomenclature.
