ArmInfo.I do not believe that my visit to Georgia will be more effective than daily contacts with our Georgian partners regarding the delay of Armenian cargo at the Gezi terminal. Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan shared a similar viewpoint with journalists during a briefing, when asked about a possible resolution to the issue of Armenian trucks carrying wine and cognac products stranded for over 40 days at the Armenian-Georgian border.
He noted that he still sees his visit to Georgia as a possibility if necessary. However, he did not provide any details about the negotiations, current challenges and potential solutions.
The Minister also announced a new program to support cognac producers. The head of the Ministry of Economic Development clarified that the program will benefit to those cognac producers who properly source grapes. In exchange they will receive assistance from the state. "I cannot say more, as the type and mechanisms of assistance still need to be discussed with industry representatives," Papoyan emphasized.
