ArmInfo. Armenia will receive 236 million euros from the European Investment Bank (EIB) for the construction of the Sisian-Kajaran road section of the North-South transport corridor. The National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia ratified the loan agreement with the Bank at a plenary session on May 29. According to Kristine Ghalechyan, Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia, the document was signed on November 12, 2024.
According to the Deputy Minister, the funds will be used to finance the construction of a new 60-kilometer road between Sisian and Kajaran. The project will be implemented in 3 sub-sections - northern (from Sisian to Shenatakh) - 27.1 km, Bargushat tunnel - 8.6 km and southern - 24.25 km. The funds provided for in the contract will be used for the construction of the northern and southern sub-sections of the project, which will be co-financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
