ArmInfo. The United States has provided the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant with a simulator worth $3.4 million. The transfer ceremony took place on June 3rd. "I was pleased to participate in the commissioning of a state-of-the-art simulator to help ensure the safe operation of the Armenian NPP," U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Kristina Kvien said at the ceremony.
She added that the U.S. Department of Energy's partnership with the Armenian NPP showcases the latest American technologies. "This is another milestone in the United State's more than 25- year nuclear energy cooperation with Armenia," the Ambassador said.
It should be noted that after the re-commissioning of the Armenian NPP in 1995, the United States provided and continues to provide technical assistance to Armenia in improving the safety of the plant. Let us also recall that since May 15, the Armenian NPP has been shut down for scheduled preventive maintenance for a period of 60 days.
