Economy Minister on ENA nationalization: This is not an attempt by the state to take over private business

ArmInfo. Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan does not consider that the events surrounding the Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA) represent an attempt by the state to take over a private business. "Absolutely and definitely not," he said during a briefing for journalists after a government meeting on June 26.

The Minister referred to the bill on the nationalization of ElNets,  which will be presented soon at an extraordinary session of  Parliament. "When the bill is introduced, you will see that all  legislative principles have been adhered to. Everything that will  transpire is approved by our legislation," he said. Papoyan noted that the Armenian authorities are moving in the logic of priorities: people, statehood and the public.

Expressing concerns about the improper operation of ElNets, which could potentially result in loss of business and paralysis of the work of the state administration system,  the minister emphasized: "We cannot prioritize the interests of one person over the interests of millions. We cannot tell one person "do what you want", while thousands suffer financial losses business, hundreds of millions of dollars, hundreds of thousands of people will be left without electricity, and the work of the state will be paralyzed",  the head of the department said.
