A meeting-discussion with representatives of the jewelry and diamond industry was organized at the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia under the chairmanship of Deputy Minister Edgar Zakaryan, which was attended by the leadership of the International Association of Armenian Jewelers (AJA) and more than 30 industry representatives.
As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economy, following the meeting, an agreement was reached on further deepening cooperation between the public and private sectors in this format in the context of tax policy and export to new markets.
The Deputy Minister attached importance to participation in international industry exhibitions with a single national pavilion to promote exports, which is carried out within the framework of the relevant program of the Ministry of Economy. It should be noted that according to the RA Statistical Committee, in January- May 2025, the share of imports and exports of precious metals and stones in total trade turnover fell to 19% and 35%, respectively, while in the same period last year it was 57% and 73%.
In terms of volume, during the reporting period, these products were imported for $923.6 million and exported for $1.05 billion: over the year, their imports fell by 80.8%, and exports - by 79.8%.
