 Armenian president inspects work on Iran-Armenia power line 

ArmInfo. During his visit to Syunik, Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan visited the substation of the 400-kilovolt Iran-Armenia power transmission line (PTL), located near the settlement of Noravan.

According to the press service of the Armenian president,  Khachaturyan got acquainted with the volume of work done and inquired  about the approximate time frame for commissioning the substation.

Armenian Minister of Management and Infrastructure David Khudatyan  noted that at the moment there is an agreement to speed up the work  at the substation.

In November last year, the Armenian government issued a budget loan  to the Iranian company Sunir, which is building the 400-kilovolt  Iran-Armenia power transmission line. The project contractor, Sunir,  signed a contract with the state enterprise High Voltage Networks of  Armenia back in July 2006, according to which the contractor was  obliged to perform the design, supply, construction, installation,  testing and commissioning of the third 400 kV power transmission line  and the corresponding substation in a comprehensive volume. The total  cost of the project is 106,847,237.51 euros. Of the project cost,  86,447,914 euros are financed by credit funds of the Export  Development Bank of Iran, and the amount of 20,399,323.51 euros is  financed by credit funds of Sunir International FZE. The  implementation of the project will increase electricity flows between  Armenia and Iran from 350 MW to 1200 MW, increase the level of  security, reliability and stability of the energy system of Armenia,  it will be possible to fully use the capacity of the Iran-Armenia gas  pipeline within the framework of the Gas for Electricity program.
