ArmInfo. With the launch of TRIPP (Trump International Route for Peace and Prosperity), Armenia will have a railway connection with Russia, which we have not had for 30 years. Armenia will be connected with Iran and Central Asia, and China will gain a new railway route towards the West. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made this statement in Washington, while responding to a question about whether the launch of TRIPP will hit the logistical and trade interests of Russia and Iran, and whether it will diminish China's role in trade flows from Asia to Europe.
Particularly, he noted that Armenia and Russia could obtain a railway route both through TRIPP and without it, for example, through Georgia. Additionally, since the Armenian railway is currently controlled by the Russian Federation, the latter may be interested in investing in the relaunch of the Ijevan-Hrazdan, Ijevan-Kasakh railway service, which would require the Azerbaijani side's consent. Pashinyan noted that all of this should be viewed not as potential issues, but as opportunities. He did not rule out the potential of this project opening up economic cooperation between Iran and the United States, Russia and the United States. According to him, construction of the railway in Meghri will begin soon, and the relaunch of the Yeraskh-Akhurik railway service is also feasible within the framework of this project.
"This project has the potential to serve as a place for unexpected but positive cooperation. And this will justify the "Crossroads of Peace" project, as countries that have had conflicts will now have the opportunity to cooperate in Armenia and the South Caucasus", the Prime Minister emphasized.
