ArmInfo. Armenia highly values its good-neighborly relations with Iran and sees great potential for cooperation at both state level and between business communities.
Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan made this statement during a meeting with a delegation led by Iran's Industry, Mining and Trade Minister Seyed Mohammad Atabak. As reported by the press service of the Armenian Ministry of Economy, the meeting involved discussions on a wide range of issues related to expanding trade and economic relations between the two countries, increasing trade turnover, and strengthening business ties. The Free Trade Agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Iran was also mentioned.
"The implementation of the Free Trade Agreement between the EAEU and Iran is a significant step forward in developing cooperation. Armenia now serves as a platform for Iran to access the broad single market of the EAEU, greatly increasing the strategic importance of the Armenian-Iranian bilateral agenda," Papoyan said in this vein.
The interlocutors exchanged views on issues of ensuring uninterrupted trade and logistics, safe circulation of agricultural products, in particular, simplifying phytosanitary and veterinary procedures at the borders, and ensuring compliance with standards and technical requirements. The parties agreed to establish a joint working group that will focus on the practical implementation of planned collaborative projects in industry and trade.
