Armenian metallurgy industry`s output down

ArmInfo.  In January-July 2025, the metallurgical industry of Armenia reversed its annual  dynamics from 7% growth to 7% decline. According to the data of the  RA Statistical Committee, this was provoked by a decline in the  volumes of the dominant production - copper concentrate, as well as  molybdenum concentrate and ferromolybdenum.

In particular, during the reporting period, the production of copper  concentrate decreased by 8% per annum (against a growth of 14.5% a  year earlier), amounting to 159.1 thousand tons.

The production of molybdenum concentrate was delayed in decline with  a slowdown in annual rates from 39.7% to 14.9%, and the production of  ferromolybdenum - from 44.9% to 35.1%, the volumes of which amounted  to 8,309.1 thousand tons and 1,725.8 thousand tons, respectively, in  the reporting period.

Along with this, the annual growth of zinc concentrate production  slowed - from 18.5% to 6.9%, with a volume of 6,667 thousand tons. A  slowdown in annual growth was also noted in the production of steel  pipes - from 21.7% to 4.6%, with a volume of 13,704.9 thousand tons.

At the same time, the annual dynamics of aluminum foil production  improved, with a 2% growth from a 34.8% decline, ensuring a volume of  11,726.2 thousand tons.

It should be noted that according to customs data, Armenia increased  its copper ore exports by 20.4% in 2024, to 341.5 thousand tons  (against a 20.4% decline in 2023). At the same time, the customs  value of copper ore increased by 15.5%, to $558.3 million.

Copper ore was mainly exported to China (76.6%), Bulgaria (13.3%),  Serbia (2.8%), Switzerland (2.6%), Russia (2.4%), Iran (2.2%). Very  small supplies were exported to the Netherlands, the United Kingdom,  and Australia.

In 2024, export deliveries of zinc concentrate also increased by  29.6% (versus a 23.8% decline in 2023), amounting to 11.6 thousand  tons. At the same time, the customs value increased by 42% - to $  17.6 million.  The entire volume, as in 2023, went to Belgium.

At the same time, the export of molybdenum concentrate increased by  2.5% in 2024 (against 8.2% growth in 2023), amounting to 11.4  thousand tons, with a decrease in customs value by 4.1% - to $ 220.6  million.  Molybdenum concentrate was supplied from Armenia to the  markets of Belgium (41.6%), China (17.9%), Russia (13.2%), Hong Kong  (7.7%), the Republic of Korea (6.3%), Thailand (5.3%), the  Netherlands (4.9%), as well as Slovenia, Austria, India, Australia,  the United Kingdom.

In 2024, Armenia reduced the export of aluminum foil by 20% (against  a 22.5% decline in 2023) - to 20.3 thousand tons.

The customs value of exported aluminum foil decreased by 21.4% to  $68.6 million. The main export volumes went to Germany (26.7%) and  Poland (22.1%), followed by the Netherlands (14.3%), Italy (13.2%),  Spain (7.1%), France (6.5%), Russia (4.3%), Slovenia (2.1%), the  Czech Republic (2%), the United Kingdom (0.7%), Greece (0.6%). Much  smaller volumes were exported to Albania, Belgium, Georgia, Hungary,  Kazakhstan and Belarus.
