Armenia, Greece strengthening cooperation in  banking sector

ArmInfo A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Union of Banks of Armenia and the Association of Greek Banks during the International Banking Forum, which began on September 23 in Yerevan at the initiative of  the Union of Banks of Armenia (UBA).

According to the UBA press service, the Memorandum was signed by  Union President Daniel Azatyan and the Association of Greek Banks CEO  Haroula Apalagaki.

The document is intended to enhance collaboration between the banking  associations of both countries, aiming to establish a stable  financial system and foster economic development. "The bilateral  memorandum will facilitate the exchange of experience and  opportunities between the parties, the joint implementation of  educational programs, and cooperation in personnel training," the  statement reads.

 Daniel Azatyan emphasized that the memorandum is an important step  towards expanding the global connections of the Armenian banking  sector and enhancing regional collaboration.

Recall that the annual banking forum, organized by the Union of Banks  of Armenia (UBA), kicked off today in Yerevan. This year, it is being  held under the motto "The Future of the Banking System:  Sustainable  Development and Innovation Prospects." As noted by the UBA, the  "Banking Forum 2025" is unique not only for the number of  participants but also for the wide range of topics discussed.  Bringing together representatives of Armenian and international  financial institutions, the forum aims to discuss issues related to  digitalization, cybersecurity, risk management, the implementation of  modern financial services standards, and the vision for the future of  the banking system.

This year, the forum was attended by the Union of Banks of Armenia's  international partners, including those from the United States, Great  Britain, Austria, Germany, Luxembourg, the United Arab Emirates,  Poland, Greece, and Georgia.

The banking forum is being held jointly with the European Bank for  Reconstruction and Development, the Association of Banks of Central  and Eastern Europe, and the Central Bank of Armenia.
