ArmInfo. Turkey's flagship carrier Turkish Airlines plans to launch direct flights to Armenia, as Ankara steps up efforts to normalize relations with its neighbor, Bloomberg reports.
The majority state-owned airline said in a filing Tuesday it intends to start scheduled service to Yerevan, subject to demand.
The move comes as Ankara and Yerevan push for a renewed effort to improve ties, building on a US-brokered peace deal between Armenia and Turkey's ally Azerbaijan.
Following the peace deal, the sides approved reopening a trade corridor linking mainland Azerbaijan with its Nakhchivan exclave on Turkey's border through Armenian territory. Washington secured exclusive development rights for the passage, now referred to as the Trump Corridor.
