Dairy product prices significantly up in Yerevan - Council of Elders  rep

ArmInfo. Yerevan Council of Elders member Hovsep Kubatyan has reported a significant increase in dairy prices.

On his Facebook page, he noted that as of today, the price of  Marianna cottage cheese has increased from 560 drams to 600 drams,  and sour cream from 660 drams to 700 drams. Price increases have been  recorded for virtually all dairy products.

Kubatyan attributes this increase to the mandatory product labeling  requirement effective October 1, which has resulted in a monopoly  created by Nikol Pashinyan's government.

"It's noteworthy that businesses pay 4.2 drams for receiving and  printing QR codes and 2.2 drams for printing. This means that to  apply a QR code to one item, a business pays 6.4 drams, but the price  increase is much more significant. It's also important to note that  businesses pay a private company for obtaining a QR code, which is  declared the national operator and, by law, a monopoly. Much more  interesting is how the national operator was selected and who the  owners of this extremely profitable monopoly are, one of whom was  also a member of the selection committee when the monopoly was  selected," noted a member of the Yerevan Council of Elders.
