ArmInfo. During the New Silk Way business forum held in Kazakhstan, the heads of railway companies from Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Georgia signed a joint action plan aimed at ensuring the smooth operation of transit trains and further reducing their travel times, Channel One Georgia reports, citing Georgian Railway.
According to the company, the document was prepared taking into account the findings of a joint working group established by the parties. These findings are based on a physical inspection and analysis of processes along the entire transport corridor route-from Altynkol to the Black Sea ports.
The agreement envisages the elimination of existing restrictions in the Middle Corridor, including infrastructure, operational, and logistical aspects, including reducing the time required for customs clearance. The document defines specific deadlines for the work and the responsible entities. The joint action plan represents an important stage in the development of the Middle Corridor. The agreement reached will contribute to strengthening regional cooperation, fully utilizing transit potential, and increasing the volume of freight traffic between the markets of Europe and Asia, Georgian Railways said in a statement.
