ATI.SU: Demand for international cargo transportation 30% up in  Armenia

ArmInfo.Demand for international freight transportation in Armenia has increased by 30%.  This was reported to ArmInfo by the press service of the  international freight exchange ATI.SU.

According to the source, in the third quarter, the number of orders  placed on the exchange for freight delivery to Armenia from other  countries increased by 29% year-on-year and by 15% compared to the  previous quarter. Import freight rates increased by 22% year-on-  year. Russia leads the way in terms of the number of orders (+22%  year-on-year and +17% compared to the second quarter). Meanwhile,  Belarus shows the most impressive growth dynamics (+133% compared to  last year).

Export shipments have also returned to growth after a slight decline.  In the third quarter, the number of requests for transportation from  Armenia to other countries increased by 30% year-on-year, and  compared to the previous quarter, growth reached 116%.

Prices also increased (by 6% year-on-year and 15%  quarter-on-quarter). Significant progress was also seen on the  Russian (+29% year- on-year) and Belarusian (+57%) routes.

As noted by ATI.SU experts, there is a positive trend in demand for  cargo delivery within the country, which, in their opinion, is likely  due to the growing popularity of digital logistics services in  general and the Freight Exchange in particular. Official statistics  reflect market stagnation: the volume of road freight transportation  in Armenia remained unchanged (minus 0.2%) for the first eight months  of 2025.

"The peak season for international transportation will last until  December. "Furthermore, there is a slight shortage of transport in  the market, so we are seeing an increase in the number of freight  delivery requests on the Exchange, both internationally and  domestically.  Cargo owners are using every opportunity to find  carriers, including digital services," noted Sergey Mkrtchyan,  Director of the Armenian Representative Office of the international  freight exchange ATI.SU.

It is worth noting that, according to the RA Statistics Committee,  the volume of freight transportation in Armenia in January-August  2025 increased by 1.1% compared to the same period in 2024, reaching  10,620,600 tons. Of this volume, 78.4%, or 8,330,300 tons, was  accounted for by road freight, a 0.2% decrease compared to the same  period last year. A decline was also recorded in natural gas  deliveries via the main pipeline, down 1.8% to 1,218,200 tons.

Meanwhile, freight transport by rail increased by 17.4% to 1,047,000  tons, and by air by 5% to 25.1 thousand tons.
