ArmInfo. By 2030, Armenia's solar power generation capacity was supposed to reach 1,000 MW, but this goal was achieved four years ahead of schedule, as stated by David Khudatyan, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, during the October 28 hearings on the draft 2026 state budget in the National Assembly.
According to him, solar power facilities already generate over 1,000 MW. Therefore, the government has discontinued the subsidy program for this sector. At this stage, the Minister continued, discussions are ongoing regarding continuing this program next year, but only if storage plants are installed. At this stage, as Khudatyan noted, the presence of 1,000 MW without storage systems is already causing certain issues associated with the seasonal nature of solar energy facilities, which, in turn, affects the stability of the entire energy system.
