ArmInfo. In 2026, slightly over 400 billion drams are planned to be allocated to the needs of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, which represents 11.6% of the total expenditures of next year's draft state budget. This was announced by Zhanna Andreasyan, head of the ministry, during discussions of the draft 2026 state treasury at a meeting of joint committees of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.
According to her, the allocated amount will exceed the allocations of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports in 2025 by 16%. The minister added that 85% of all expenditures, or 356 billion drams, will be directed toward the implementation of education programs. Thus, as Zhanna Andreasyan noted, the total allocations for education will amount to 3% of the country's GDP. According to the minister, no other government in Armenia has ever allocated so many resources to education. She reported that approximately 35% of the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture will be allocated for capital expenditures (168.7 billion drams), which is 34.8% higher than the 2025 allocations.
Zhanna Andreasyan noted that a significant portion of capital expenditures is allocated for school construction and renovation. As of October of this year, work has been completed at 60 schools, 35 of which are new and 25 renovated. By the end of the year, 50 more schools will be commissioned, 8 of which are new and 42 undergoing renovation. The minister also announced that 151 more schools will be commissioned by September 1, 2026, and 46 more by the end of next year. This means that 308 schools will be ready by December 31, 2026.
