Cargo transportation in Armenia increased by 1.6% over the first nine  months, while passenger transportation decreased by 2.4%

Cargo transportation in Armenia increased by 1.6% over the first nine  months, while passenger transportation decreased by 2.4%

ArmInfo. Cargo transportation in Armenia in January- September 2025 increased by  1.6% compared to the same period in 2024,  reaching 12,236.3  tons.   Meanwhile, passenger transportation decreased by 2.4% during the  reporting period (versus a 19.8% increase a year earlier), reaching  173,195.3 people, as evidenced by data from the Statistical Committee  of the Republic of Armenia. 

Thus, road freight transport accounted for the lion's share of  freight transportation - 79.1% or 9,701,300 tons, with an annual  increase of 0.5%. Rail freight transportation increased by 15.7% to  1,207,200 tons, and air freight by 3.2% to 28,900 tons. 1,325,900  tons of natural gas were delivered through main pipeline, with an  annual decrease of 1.8%.

Road transport accounted for the lion's share of passenger  transportation - 85% or 147,088.7 people, with a year-on-year  increase. Rail passenger transportation increased by 9.9% to 393,300  people. Air passenger transportation increased by 4.6% to 4,337,300  people. Passenger transportation by electric transport decreased by  16.7% to 21,376,000 people.

As a result, freight turnover decreased by 2.6% year-on-year in  January-September to 3,230.9 million ton- km, while passenger traffic  increased by 0.2% to 3,465.5 million passenger-km.
