ArmInfo. The Armenian parliamentary opposition has sent a request to the relevant authorities demanding the price of Kazakh grain delivered to Armenia. Garnik Danielyan, a member of the National Assembly from the opposition "Armenia" faction, told reporters on November 11.
According to him, it is crucial to understand how much the delivered grain will cost Armenian consumers. The MP emphasized the need to calculate the cost of the delivered goods, especially given that the grain trucks were empty on the return trip, which further increases the cost of grain. He also mentioned that it would be interesting to know the cost of transporting the grain through Georgia. "I hope we'll be able to learn the real reasons for this one-time delivery in the near future. The type of grain-whether it's feed or wheat intended for bakery production-is also of significant importance," the opposition figure said, adding that there's a need for clarification, not a PR stunt.
He pointed out the futility of the government's claims regarding unblocking transport links. The deputy noted that unblocking would only happen if the cargo arrived at the Ijevan station. Moreover, the railway from Kasakh, Azerbaijan, to Ijevan, Armenia, is only 10 km long. Moreover, the tracks are in place, and only minor technical work is required to make this section of the railway operational in a very short period of time. In that case, it would be possible to talk about unblocking the roads to some extent. However, transporting goods through Georgia involves additional costs.
