ArmInfo. For 10-15 years, businesses in Armenia have been trying to meet their recruitment needs independently. Mariam Hambardzumyan, co-founder of TCF investment company, addressed this issue during the panel discussion "HR: The Role of Human Potential in the Second Quarter of the 21st Century - A New Era of Relevance of the Tasks at Hand," taking place as part of the International PLUS Forum FinnoWay Armenia 2025.
"I believe this is fundamentally flawed. Academic education is outdated and requires transformation, especially now given AI and other needs and demands. However, not a single university program takes this into account," the expert lamented.
Hambartsumyan clarified that, as a rule, companies "visit" universities to present their programs and attract young people. Furthermore, representatives of large businesses open their own academies where they provide training and employ the relevant personnel.
In this vein, she noted that TCF and several other companies in Armenia are resorting to similar practices. "Businesses are compelled to take matters into their own hands and handle it themselves. But I think that, in reality, this responsibility lies with the broader education system, which has not yet been able to undergo this transformation," she said.
