ArmInfo. From December 1 to 5, Eduard Hakobyan, Chairman of the State Revenue Committee (SRC) of Armenia, is participating in the 9th High-Level Meeting of the Asian Initiative, which is being held as part of the 18th Annual Conference of the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Tax Information of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Delhi, the capital of the Republic of India.
The SRC Chairman, as a co-chair country, co-chaired the conference with Hassan Zarir, Head of Tax Administration of the Maldives. This year, Armenia's term as co-chair of the Asian Initiative expires, and Japan will take over as co-chair.
At the meeting, the SRC Chairman reiterated the importance of the principles adopted by the Asian Initiative for countries in the region, particularly their significance in terms of tax revenue collection, enhancing tax compliance, and combating illicit tax flows. He also emphasized that there is no alternative to implementing transparency and information exchange standards for tax purposes, and Armenia has been and will be a pioneer in implementing and continuously improving these standards.
Eduard Hakobyan thanked all partners for their support and joint efforts during his co-chairmanship of the Asian Initiative, noting that only through joint efforts is it possible to implement the ambitious programs and reforms identified by the Asian Initiative member countries.
It is worth noting that the Asian Initiative, which comprises 18 countries, was established in 2022 under the auspices of the OECD Global Forum on Transparency and Information Exchange in Taxation with the aim of making the application of international transparency and information exchange standards in the region more focused and targeted.
