As part of the World Bank's Tourism and Regional Infrastructure Improvement Program (TRIP) in Vayots Dzor, planned investments will be directed toward road rehabilitation, development of spa and resort tourism, wine and agrotourism, HoReCa (hotel and catering) training, and improvement of museum, adventure, and cultural infrastructure. This was announced following a meeting between Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan and the head of the Tourism Committee, Lusine Gevorgyan, with representatives of Vayots Dzor's regional and local authorities (Yeghegnadzor, Areni, Jermuk), as well as representatives of the tourism industry.
The minister announced that a local working group will be formed to facilitate the program's implementation, answered questions from meeting participants, and listened to their suggestions. According to Papoyan, regional development is a key focus of the government, and the TRIP program is one of the practical steps within this strategy. The Ministry of Economy noted that the TRIP program aims to develop seven tourism clusters in Goris, Areni, Jermuk, Yeghegis, Dvin, Gyumri, and Dilijan, with the goal of stimulating the development of wine, spa, adventure, cultural, educational, and ecotourism in the regions. The total budget for the program is ?120.5 million. According to the Statistics Committee, 1,734,247 tourists visited Armenia in January-September 2025, an increase of 0.8% compared to the same period last year.
