ArmInfo.Bringing the permissible weight, axle load, load capacity, and dimensions of vehicles traveling on the roads of the Eurasian Economic Union member states into line with the standards in force in member states will facilitate freight transportation along EAEU transport corridors.
The National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia ratified the agreement "On Permissible Weights, Axle Loads, and Dimensions of Vehicles Moving on the Roads of Eurasian Economic Union Member States Participating in Eurasian Transport Corridors" at its plenary session on December 4.
According to Armen Simonyan, Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia, the ratification of the document is an effort to harmonize national legislation with that of the EAEU member states and adhere to internationally recognized standards. This will ensure fair competition for Armenian carriers operating on Eurasian transport routes. The document aims to eliminate barriers to internal trade within the Union arising from differences in national requirements for vehicle weight and dimensions. The agreement establishes consistent minimum permissible values for weight, axle loads, and dimensions for roads within Eurasian transport corridors. This harmonization of standards allows carriers to bypass the need to obtain special permits in countries that previously had lower standards, simplifying and reducing the expenses of international transportation.
