Armenia and Egypt discussed the possibility of expanding bilateral trade and economic ties, as well as investment cooperation, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economy, citing the results of a meeting between Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan and Egyptian Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Hassan ElKhatib.
Highlighting the importance of investing in education, Papoyan suggested to his Egyptian counterpart the idea of establishing a TUMO center in Egypt.
To assist companies from both countries in navigating their respective markets, the parties noted the importance of organizing B2B meetings between business circles. They also exchanged views on cooperation in pharmaceutical production and tourism. During the meeting, Gevorg Papoyan spoke about the Crossroads of Peace initiative, underscoring its significance for regional economic cooperation. He invited Hassan ElKhatib to participate in the Crossroads of Peace investment summit, scheduled for 2026.
It should be noted that, according to Customs Service data, in the first half of 2025, the customs value of goods exported from Armenia to Egypt increased significantly, reaching $747,500, with the value of imported goods increased by 10.3% to $81,800,000.
