ArmInfo. Armenia has strategic plans to import and export various goods to Azerbaijan. Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan stated this during an interview with Public Television.
"We import from various countries, one way or another. If something is cheaper for our citizens, why not import it from Azerbaijan?" the Minister asked. Papoyan ignored the host's comment after this statement about Azerbaijan occupying our lands and continued to ask about the financial losses Armenian citizens and businesses would suffer if they purchased something for 90 drams, 1,000 drams, or if they exported goods to Azerbaijan. In this regard, he cited the example of exporting aluminum foil to that country. When asked if there were any specific plans in this regard, the minister noted that there were only such discussions. Papoyan explained the government's actions in the context of establishing trade and economic cooperation with Azerbaijan not by the financial benefits received, but by citing peace as the primary reason. "We want not a single child to die, not a single soldier to perish. There must be peace. Two categories of people cross the border primarily: goods or soldiers. Our borders should only be crossed by goods and businesses, not soldiers and weapons," he concluded.
