
ArmInfo.Eighteen investment programs worth a total of $1 billion are being implemented in Armenia's capital. This was announced by Aneta Babayan, Advisor to the Mayor of Yerevan, at a working meeting at the Yerevan City Hall.
According to her, this work is being coordinated by the Bureau for the Implementation of Investment Programs for the Development of Yerevan. Specifically, Babayan emphasized, a program is being implemented to develop four public buildings, six projects to improve road infrastructure, and four projects to improve the quality of transportation and the metro. The project also includes two special programs and two urban development and renovation programs. The largest project, worth $660 million, is the transportation and metro development program. $205 million is planned for the development of road infrastructure. The project includes the construction of the A. A. Surikov Children's Sports School of the Olympic Reserve. Albert Azaryan, for which 4.9 billion drams are planned. EUR 37.1 million will be raised from the European Investment Bank and the EU for the energy efficiency program. A total of 39 kindergartens will be involved in the project.
A new transport interchange (overpass) is planned for construction in Shengavit, for which 1.8 billion drams will be allocated from the country's state budget. In addition, an urban development and renovation program will be implemented with an $85.67 million loan from the Asian Development Bank. This involves the construction of a new road from Isakov Street toward Arshakunyats Street.
The investment program also includes the construction of two metro stations: Ajapnyak and Surmalu. Of these projects, only the Ajapnyak metro station construction program, costing 98 billion drams, has been assessed so far. As for the Surmalu metro station, the project is in the design assessment stage.
