ArmInfo. It is clear that bridges must be built along various sections of the Armenian-Turkish border. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this on the sidelines of the 15th Security Forum "Armenia and the World at the Crossroads of Risks and Opportunities."
"At a minimum, a bridge will need to be built at the Margara border crossing point (in the Armavir region), a bridge should be built at the Akhurik border crossing point (in the Shirak region), customs and border terminals should also be built there, as well as at Yeraskh (the border with Nakhichevan). There is a high probability of certain developments on the Ijevan-Gazakh section (the northeastern section of the border with Azerbaijan), as well as in the south," Pashinyan said.
According to him, it remains to be seen which section Armenia will "work with TRIPP" and which with other partners. In all likelihood, he continued, Armenia will begin implementing projects to modernize power transmission lines and other projects along the Armenian-Turkish border. There is already momentum from the private sector, the prime minister added.
Overall, Nikol Pashinyan is convinced that Armenia is transforming from a country located at the edge of the world into a country located in a rather active part of the world.
The launch of the normalization process was announced on December 13, 2021, by then-Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu. He also emphasized that Ankara would coordinate with Azerbaijan on steps to normalize relations with Armenia. The parties appointed special representatives of Turkey and Armenia for the normalization process - Serdar K?l?c and Ruben Rubinyan - who have already held several rounds of negotiations, but have so far failed to reach any breakthroughs.
