ArmInfo. Armenia needs to break out of the vicious cycle of consumption and instead focus on imports and build a national economy centered on production, exports, and institutional protection. This is the main message of the economic policy put forth by the "Wings of Unity" initiative, led by former Armenian Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan, as noted in a statement received by ArmInfo.
In this vein, "Wings of Unity" compared its policy to the government's recently published "Doctrine of Economic and Institutional Transformation of Armenia." "Armenia's development challenges require not only a common philosophy, but also a clear economic model, an industrial transformation architecture, a new tax and fiscal system, thoughtful management of geopolitical risks, measurable goals, and managerial accountability," the initiative emphasized.
Recall, the Armenian government approved the "Doctrine of Economic and Institutional Transformation of Armenia" during its January 8 meeting. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan presented the document. The adoption of this legislative act, as noted, presupposes the elimination of fragmentation in economic and institutional policy, the enshrinement of long-term, promising, and clear principles, and the creation of a unified structural system of programs and subprograms, thereby ensuring a long-term, systemic, and predictable nature of public policy. As a result of the adoption of the draft and the implementation of its provisions, it is expected that: economic policy will acquire a forward-looking and systemic nature; policy predictability and confidence in the investment climate will increase; a unified system of programs and subprograms will be formed; the effectiveness and accountability of public administration will be strengthened; and Armenia's economic resilience and security stability will be enhanced.
