Opening of land border with Turkey will have a positive effect on the  economy - Narek Karapetyan

ArmInfo The opening of the land  border with Turkey will have a positive effect on the economy, as stated by Narek Karapetyan, coordinator of the "In Our  Way" movement on January 20. His remarks were shared during a presentation of the economic priorities for the "Strong Armenia" party, founded by philanthropist and Tashir Group President Samvel Karapetyan.

He pointed out the possibility of transporting cargo to the European  market via Turkey. "That is, this will significantly enhance  Armenia's logistics, particularly for trade with European markets. By  utilizing Turkish territory for transit, Armenian goods could reach  Greece and the broader European "cultural and economic zone" more  rapidly. "We are part of the European Christian culture, and this  route aligns with our strategic and cultural identity," Karapetyan  noted.

He emphasized that independence gives the state tools to manage its  own market and noted the importance of sovereign policy. "Sovereign  policy must enable internal mechanisms to contain problems related to  the clash of national interests. In cooperation with the Turks, we  must be careful not to fall completely under their economic  influence, which could seriously harm our agriculture, and not to  succumb to their cultural narratives promoted by certain circles," he  said.

The coordinator of the movement coordinator expressed hope that over  time, significant changes will occur in Turkey, relations between  peoples will improve, and problems between neighbors will be resolved  fairly.  "If we must live side by side, and there is no other  alternative, then we must have good relations, recognizing that we  share a common region and taking its interests into account,"  Karapetyan said.

It should be noted that yesterday it became known that Turkey is  reopening the Alijan checkpoint on the border with Armenia for  third-country citizens and persons with diplomatic passports. The  corresponding agreement between Yerevan and Ankara was reached in the  summer of 2022.
