ArmInfo. Some circles and media outlets in Armenia are trying to create the impression that the country has some economic issues with Russia, but there are none. Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Ruben Rubinyan made this statement in a conversation with journalists in the NA.
Regarding talks of a potential increase in Russian gas prices for Armenia, the Armenian parliamentarian expressed his conviction that such a thing is impossible. "Do you mean that Russia will not fulfill its obligations, why would that be the case? Such hints are coming from certain political forces in Armenia and media outlets under their control," the Deputy Speaker of Parliament assured.
Rubinyan then accused journalists of serving a specific agenda. "This bubble you're trying to inflate, supposedly with Russia, we have economic problems, and I know why this is being done. Because the oligarch from Kaluga (referring to Samvel Karapetyan, chairman of the Strong Armenia party - ed.) is planning to exploit this in his election campaign. But it won't work," the Deputy Speaker of the Armenian Parliament stated, accusing some journalists of being "funded by Karapetyan."
Rubinyan also commented on Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk's statement that "Armenia is approaching a point where Armenian-Russian relations may be reconsidered," noting that similar statements have been made repeatedly, but "no catastrophe has ever occurred." "Russia is a friendly country to us, and we will continue to discuss all issues in a friendly atmosphere," Rubinyan concluded.
