
ArmInfo.Edgar Mkrtchyan, Deputy Minister of Finance of of Armenia participated in a series of high-level discussions and events as part of the 2026 Spring Meetings of the World Bank (WB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
During the annual IMF-WB Constituency Meeting, participants discussed global and regional financial and economic trends, the current agendas and future priorities of both institutions, alongside organizational matters for the group's future activities.
At the International Human Capital Forum, participants discussed existing challenges and considered possible policy solutions to improve the situation. A key focus was the introduction of new World Bank Group tools, including the Expanded Human Capital Index (HCI+).
At the 15th meeting of the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action (CFMCA), opportunities for transitioning to a green and sustainable economy were discussed. The Deputy Minister of Finance of the Republic of Armenia delivered a speech on Armenia's transition toward a green and resilient economy. He specifically highlighted Armenia's priorities for the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17), which is scheduled to take place in Yerevan in October 2026. During the discussion of regional economic prospects for the Middle East and Central Asia, views were exchanged on current regional processes and the importance of continuing constructive policy dialogue was emphasized.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Finance, Edgar Mkrtchyan also held effective discussions with the World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia, the Executive Directors of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund, as well as the leadership of the IMF's Middle East and Central Asia Department. These talks centered on Armenia's latest macroeconomic trends and the "Crossroads of Peace" initiative-a strategic platform aimed at enhancing regional connectivity, expanding economic cooperation, and fostering sustainable development through joint infrastructure and policy programs.
