Armenia, EU sign Connectivity Partnership Declaration

ArmInfo. Armenia and the European Union signed a joint Connectivity Partnership Declaration. The document was signed during the first Armenia-EU summit in Yerevan on May 5, 2026.  

In the declaration, the parties reaffirm thei shared vision and commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and expanding regional cooperation within the framework of the Armenia-EU partnership in the field of transport infrastructure. It is noted that this partnership, fully aligned with the EU Global Cross Regional  Connectivity and the Crossroads of Peace initiative, the TRIPP project, and based on the Joint Communication on the EU Strategic Approach to the Black Sea Region, as well as on established EU policies and formats for cooperation with third countries, reflects a shared interest in strengthening inclusive, secure, and sustainable transport, energy, and digital connectivity.

By this declaration, the parties recognize the strategic importance of the following areas: transport, energy, and digital technologies. Within the framework connectivity cooperation, the parties indicate the expansion of Armenia's inclusive integration into regional transport networks, including the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor, through coordinated feasibility studies and technical assessments of jointly identified priorities.

In the energy sector, support is provided for Armenia's efforts to increase energy independence, climate resilience, and diversification, strengthen the electricity grid, expand energy storage capacity, and promote regional integration, including through "In support of these objectives, both sides will advance priority projects and initiatives through technical cooperation, feasibility studies, collaboration with international financial institutions, and private sector participation," the declaration states.

It is noted that this Declaration reflects the intention of the Republic of Armenia and the European Union to develop an ambitious, mutually beneficial, and forward-looking partnership, paving the way for tangible results that will strengthen Armenia's integration into European transport, energy, and digital networks and contribute to regional peace, stability, and connectivity.
