
ArmInfo. The financial assistance to Armenia in the amount of approximately ?50 million, which the European Union intends to allocate, will solve absolutely nothing in terms of economic support for this country, stated Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk.
"This solves absolutely nothing. These are not the right amounts. Our trade volumes (with Armenia - IF) are completely different; I don't even want to comment on it," Overchuk told Interfax.
Earlier, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that the European Union is preparing a financial support package for Armenia in the amount of approximately ?50 million due to Russia's "economic pressure" on it. It should be noted that, according to the RA Statistics Committee, foreign trade turnover between Armenia and the EAEU countries decreased by 36.9% in 2025, exceeding $8 billion.
Export volumes declined by 5% to $3.2 billion, while imports fell by 48.5% to $4.8 billion.
Mutual trade with Russia during the reporting period declined by 38.3%, amounting to $7.6 billion. Exports declined by 6.9% to $2.9 billion, while imports fell by 49.2% to $4.7 billion.
