Armenia exploring AI and digital integration for urban planning and  project expertise

ArmInfo.  The Urban Development Committee of Armenia has held discussions regarding upcoming digitalization initiatives within the urban planning sector.  The meeting, chaired by Committee Head Yeghiazar Vardanyan, included  Nerses Yeritsyan, Chairman of the Information Systems Management  Council, along with representatives from the Information Systems  Agency of Armenia, EKENG CJSC, and experts from the Armenian Cultural  and Scientific Association (ACSA)—a foundation comprising scholars  from Armenia and the diaspora.

Yeghiazar Vardanyan noted that the digitalization of the urban  development sector is already underway across several areas. "In the  near future, our priority will be to enhance technical quality  control in construction through the use of digital solutions. To this  end, with the support of the Information Systems Agency of Armenia,  we have studied international best practices and are discussing  options for implementing digital systems that have proven successful  abroad," the Committee Chair stated. He added that a prototype of the  system could be piloted within state school construction projects.

The discussions also covered cooperation with urban planning experts  and the preparation of the professional community for the use of  electronic systems. It was emphasized that, in addition to adopting  digital tools, it is essential to evolve the working methodologies of  specialists in the field.

The meeting addressed preparations for the launch of a comprehensive  assessment and change of land use designation on a digital platform.  Work on implementing a rating and reporting system for urban planning  companies was also discussed. Furthermore, the possibility of using  artificial intelligence tools during the design assessment stage was  explored.
