 RA Ministry of Economy discusses improving mechanisms for  implementing TRIP program

ArmInfo. Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan received representatives of the World Bank  (WB) and the Armenian Territorial Development Fund.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the progress of the WB's  Tourism and Regional Infrastructure Development Program (TRIP), as  well as improving its implementation mechanisms, increasing  flexibility, and accelerating the relevant processes.

Emphasizing the importance of the program for tourism development and  the modernization of regional infrastructure, they reaffirmed their  commitment to continue close cooperation to ensure the effective  implementation of the planned activities.

The TRIP program provides for an investment of EUR 120 million in the  development of tourism clusters in Goris, Areni, Jermuk, Yeghegis,  Dvin, Gyumri, and Dilijan. The program aims to stimulate the  development of wine, wellness, adventure, cultural, educational, and  ecotourism.

It is worth noting that 1.041 million tourists visited Armenia in the  first half of the year, exceeding the same period last year by 14.8%.

The lion's share of tourists are aged 35-44 (25%), followed by those  aged 25-34 (20%), 45-54 (18%), 55-64 (13%), and others.

Traditionally, citizens of the Russian Federation (40%), Georgia  (15%), Iran (8%), as well as China, Germany, and the United States  (2% each), Ukraine (1.5%), France (1.3%), Italy (1.2%), India (1%),  and others prefer to vacation in Armenia.
