ArmInfo.The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has allocated an additional quota to Armenia for the duty-free import of electric vehicles. Gevorg Papoyan, Armenia's Minister of Economy, announced this update in a video posted on his official Facebook page.
The minister explained that approximately 1,900 unused quotas remained from the initial allocation of 15,000. "Good news for those planning to purchase an electric vehicle this year. By decision of the EEC Council, Armenia has been granted an additional quota of 5,000 electric vehicles with the possibility of importing them at a zero customs duty rate (0%). Thus, the total quota volume for 2026 has reached 20,000 electric vehicles," the minister stated. He added that details regarding the distribution procedure for the additional 5,000 quotas will be published soon.
Previously, the State Revenue Committee (SRC) released data regarding the utilization of duty-free EV import quotas. As of August 2, 2026, authorized dealers and distributors imported 1,283 vehicles, while non-dealer entities imported 1,164 vehicles, reflecting quota utilization rates of 57% and 90% for the respective groups.
