ArmInfo. The Armenian government intends to provide financial support to companies engaged in the procurement of peaches and figs. A decision to amend the existing support program was approved during the cabinet meeting on August 20.
Presenting the draft, RA Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan noted that while previous measures targeted general fruit and vegetable exporters, the new government resolution establishes a compensation mechanism to offset expenses incurred by processing companies when purchasing peaches and figs. The program provides compensation for procurements carried out between August 18 and September 1, 2026.
Specifically, the state will provide a subsidy of 125 drams per kilogram for figs purchased in the Syunik Province for processing, up to a total volume of 400 tons. A similar subsidy of 125 drams per kilogram has been established for peaches purchased across the Republic of Armenia for processing. Monitoring of procurement processes at participating facilities will be overseen by regional gubernatorial staff.
To receive compensation for produce acquired for processing, applicants must submit an official application along with copies of documentation detailing the quantity and cost of the purchased produce in accordance with standard reporting forms and acquisition records.
During the session, the Prime Minister highlighted the potential for exporting finished processed goods and urged economic operators to actively expand their sales markets and optimize their production cycles.
