ArmInfo. Dismantling of the Main Post Office building on Saryan Street in Yerevan has begun. This was stated in a statement by the Development and Investment Program, published on its Facebook page.
The work has been completed within 18 months. The source noted that the World Trade Center is planned for construction on this site.
The project includes the creation of conference halls, a concert and exhibition hall, as well as a modern business center. A 4-star hotel with 180 rooms will also be built. The total estimated cost of the project exceeds $212 million.
As a reminder, on April 30, 2024, RA Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan and Eduard Marutyan, General Director of Renshin LLC, signed an agreement for the construction of the World Trade Center in Yerevan. Simultaneously, a tripartite agreement was signed between the RA government, Renshin LLC, and HayPost CJSC, according to which World Trade Center Yerevan CJSC will be established. The decision to participate in the urban development project for the construction of the World Trade Center (WTC) and to establish the World Trade Center Yerevan Closed Joint-Stock Company was approved by the executive authority on September 7, 2023.
It was previously reported that the program was scheduled to begin on January 1, 2024, and be completed on December 31, 2028. The total area of the center will be approximately 15,970 square meters. The Ministry of Economy of the Republic noted that the project is of great importance, as the total estimated cost of construction is almost $212 million. The initiative is expected to create at least 10,000 new jobs. In addition, tax payments to the municipal budget will increase significantly.
