ArmInfo. Armenian authorities will continue implementing a program to assist agricultural exporters who have found themselves in a difficult situation due to restrictions imposed by the Russian Federation. The program was approved at a government meeting on September 3.
According to RA Minister of Economy Gevork Papoyan, the document presented is essentially a continuation of previous assistance programs,
with some improvements. In particular, there are already some products that had exhausted their export potential as of September. These include blackberries, cherries, and several others, which have been excluded from the program. In their place, the document will introduce some other product names. For example, a uniform compensation amount of 50 drams will be introduced for flower exports to all countries without exception. Previously, for exports; A standard rate of 37 drams was established for some countries, and 50 drams for others. A uniform rate will now apply across all destinations.
According to current information, approximately 4,506 tons of peppers, 4,041 tons of tomatoes, 0.3 tons of eggplants, 408.6 tons of strawberries, and approximately 10.0 million flowers were exported in June-August 2026. In June-August, the export geography expanded: flowers were exported to 28 countries, fruits to 24, and vegetables to 16.
Considering that economic operators are actively negotiating exports to other markets, which are expected to result in an increase in export volumes in the near future, and that price offers are being made during the negotiations taking into account the amount of compensation provided, it is advisable to provide compensation for September as well. An analysis of export dynamics shows that the projected export volumes under the September 2026 event will be approximately 200 tons of strawberries, approximately 3,850 tons of vegetables, and approximately 5.2 million units of flowers.
The project proposes to provide compensation to economic operators exporting certain types of greenhouse products from the territory of the Republic of Armenia in September 2026 in the following amounts:
1) 770 drams per kilogram of strawberries
2) 275 drams per kilogram of tomatoes
3) 400 drams per kilogram of cherry tomatoes
4) 400 drams AMD per kilogram of peppers
5) 500 AMD per kilogram of Palermo peppers
6) 200 AMD per kilogram of eggplants
7) 50 AMD per flower
Papoyan noted that, for example, export volumes of bottled cognac exceeded last year's figures by 19%, while cognac
spirit exports were up 12%, wine exports were down 8%, fruits and vegetables exports were down 1%, and canned fruits and vegetables exports were up 18%.
In this regard, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan noted that regardless of further developments, export diversification
should become the government's strategy. While noting the problems, Pashinyan happily stated that these issues are being addressed through public-private partnerships. In a sense, the issue is being resolved through tourists. The Prime Minister called on the relevant agencies to take steps to institutionalize the emerging export model.
