According to the RA Government's press service, the RA Prime Minister, emphasizing the importance of the company's activities in Armenia, noted the RA government's interest in developing and expanding mutually beneficial partnerships.
Martin Eurnekian briefed the head of state on the progress of Corporacion America's programs in Armenia and expansion prospects. In particular, the discussion focused on the development of Yerevan's Zvartnots Airport and Gyumri's Shirak Airport, which are under the company's concession management, infrastructure improvements, and other investment projects. In this context, a number of issues related to the implementation of projects that will contribute to the development of the aviation market and tourism sector, increase passenger traffic, airport capacity, ensure high-quality service, etc. were discussed. The parties agreed to continue discussing next steps. It should be noted that the concessionaire for Zvartnots and Shirak airports (Corporacion America Airports) has planned investments of approximately $400-425 million for large-scale infrastructure modernization and expansion, including increasing capacity, repairing, and developing the airports. The goal of the program is to double passenger traffic and improve cargo infrastructure. This is largely due to a significant increase in tourist visits. In August 2026, 227,026 tourists visited Armenia, and from January to August 2026, the total number of tourist visits to Armenia amounted to approximately 1,467,333. In the first eight months of 2026, the largest number of tourist visits to Armenia were recorded from Russia - 40% of the total. Georgia came in second place with 14%, and Iran in third place with 8%.
