ArmInfo. The vacation season traditionally becomes a peak time not only for tourists, but also for scammers. One of the most dangerous schemes in recent years targets users of hotel booking services. What makes it particularly dangerous is that the scammers’ message may arrive through an official communication channel and contain real details about your trip.

ArmInfo.The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has allocated an additional quota to Armenia for the duty-free import of electric vehicles. Gevorg Papoyan, Armenia's Minister of Economy, announced this update in a video posted on his official Facebook page.

ArmInfo.During the week of August 3 to 7, 2026, activities on Armenia's interbank foreign exchange market were characterized by a higher volume of Russian  ruble transactions compared to US dollars and euros. Specifically, the decline in dollar transactions accelerated from 40.3% to 62.5%, while the trend in ruble transactions increased from a 57% decline to a 98% increase.

ArmInfo. By the decision of Prime Minister Pashinyan, Tatev Aslanyan has been appointed Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry of Armenia. Aslanyan holds a degree from Erasmus University Rotterdam (Netherlands).

ArmInfo. The Hotel Association of Armenia NGO has won the tender to become the authorized organization responsible for assigning star ratings to  hotel facilities in the country. According to the Tourism Committee press service, an official agreement was signed between the Committee  and the Association on August 7.

ArmInfo. In Armenia, tax compliance indicators improved in the first half of 2026. According  to the press service of the State Revenue Committee of the Republic  of Armenia, enhancing the efficiency of tax administration, promoting  voluntary compliance among taxpayers, and ensuring a more targeted  and predictable administrative framework remain key priorities for  the agency.

ArmInfo.  The EU's share of Armenia's foreign trade increased to 17.8% in the first half of 2026  (from 12.1% a year ago), while the EAEU's share decreased to 29.4%  (from 36.3% a year ago). According to data from the RA Statistics  Committee, foreign trade turnover with the EU accelerated  year-on-year from 9.5% to 46.2%, reaching $1.7 billion, while with  the EAEU, it slowed from 53.7% to 19%, reaching $2.8 billion.  Moreover, among the EAEU countries, only Russia recorded a decline in  trade, while most EU countries chose to increase their  volumes-including Germany, Bulgaria, Italy, France, Belgium, Poland,  Spain, Austria, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Cyprus, Slovakia,  Hungary, and Portugal-many of them significantly.

ArmInfo.  The State Revenue Committee of Armenia has uncovered tax violations at another property  owned by arrested Prosperous Armenia Party leader and businessman  Gagik Tsarukyan. This time, the violations relate to the Arinj Mall  fair in the Kotayk region.

ArmInfo. One of the world's largest fast-food restaurant chains, the international brand Subway,  is considering entering the Armenian market. This was reported by the  press service of the Ministry of Economy, citing the results of a  meeting between Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan, Efe  Celik, Regional Director of the international brand Subway, and  Armenian investor Levon Hayrapetyan.

ArmInfo.According to data from the  Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia,  the consumer market in Armenia recorded an annual inflation rate of 4.5% in July 2026 compared to July 2025 (up from 3.4% a year earlier),  driven primarily by rising food prices.

ArmInfo.The reduction of trade turnover between Russia and Armenia by two-thirds  compared to last year is a "success" of this incompetent government, as stated by businessman Samvel Karapetyan, leader of the "Strong Armenia" bloc, to journalists on August 6 before a regular meeting, in response to a  statement by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk.

ArmInfo.  Armenia's insurance sector increased its net profit in the first half of 2026 by 71.4%  year-on-year (versus a 2.1-fold increase a year ago), reaching AMD  3.3 billion ($9.1 million). Moreover, this high double-digit growth  rate, despite some slowdown, is the result of tariff increases  introduced a year ago, which boosted premium and claim growth. While  collections have significantly weakened, payments have accelerated.  This is evidenced by the Financial Rating of Armenian Insurance  Companies as of June 30, 2026, prepared by ArmInfo Investment Company  based on published financial reports and additional data requested  from insurance companies.
