ArmInfo.During the period of the state of emergency declared in the country due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, Armenia significantly increased imports of wheat, barley and buckwheat.

ArmInfo. In the first half of 2020, sugar was imported to Armenia mainly from Russia, while Brazil was traditionally the supplier of sugar to the Armenian  market.  Thus, according to the RA Customs Service, a total of 21.3  thousand tons of sugar were supplied to Armenia during the reporting  period with a y-o-y decline of 35% (against a 10.9% decline a year  earlier).  At the same time, the customs value decreased by 41.1%,  amounting to about $ 7 million.

ArmInfo. In the first half  of 2019 the share of sugar imports to Armenia from Brazil again  dominates - 81.1% of the total, against 57% for the same period a  year earlier. Thus, according to the Customs Service of the Republic  of Armenia, in the first half of 2019 Armenia imported 26.5 thousand  tons of Brazilian sugar for $ 9.1 million.

Sugar imports to  Armenia declined in the first half of 2018. by 43.6% per annum  (against a growth of 9.4% a year earlier), amounting to 36.7 thousand  tons.  In value terms, imports fell by 57.7% (against 60% growth a  year earlier), amounting to $ 14.6 million.  This is evidenced by the  data of the RA Customs Service.

ArmInfo. Armenia increased import of wheat by 9.8% in 2017 to 307.8 thousand tons, in parallel with the growth in value terms - by 9.3% - to $ 64.2 million. The main importer of wheat was the Russian Federation (98.8%), while the remaining falls on Georgia. Exports of wheat increased by 18% to 30.2 tons, with customs value increasing 2.7 times to $ 19.6 thousand.  Wheat exports mainly fell to Russia (51.3%), the United States (47.7%), etc.

ArmInfo.In Q1 2017 in  Armenia 65.1 thousand tons of sugar were imported, with a slowdown in  the annual growth rate from 82.3% to 9.4%. According to the Customs  Service of the Republic of Armenia, in value terms, imports increased  by 60% (against 68% growth a year earlier) to $ 34.4 million.

ArmInfo. Import of sugar to Armenia declined by 45 % in the first half of 2015. According to the report of the Armenia's Customs Service, in the first half of 2015 32.6 thousand tons of sugar was imported versus 59.2 thousand tons in 2014.
