ArmInfo. The regular, 23rd meeting of the Armenian- Russian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation was held in Moscow under the joint chairmanship of Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Alexey Overchuk and Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Mher Grigoryan.

ArmInfo.  In October, amidst  a growing tourist flow and accelerating dynamics in the mining  industry, export of agricultural products, canned goods, and  alcoholic beverages, we are witnessing a prolonged decline in the  re-export of gold. This was stated by Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan  in an interview with Public Television of Armenia.

ArmInfo. Interest in the profession of engineers in the field of nuclear energy has been renewed in Armenia. Thus, in comparison with the situation three years ago, when at most 6 people were admitted to the Department of Nuclear Energy of the National Polytechnic University, today we are talking about 13 students. This  was stated by the Deputy Director of the Institute of Power Engineering and Electrical Engineering of the National Polytechnic University, former head of the Nuclear Energy Department of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Armenia, Professor Aram Gevorgyan. 

ArmInfo.Despite making a significant contribution to the country's economic development and  tax base, Armenia's mining industry, unfortunately, does not fully utilize its full potential according to international standards. This was noted by Vardan Janyan, First Deputy General Director of the Zangezur Copper and Molybdenum Combine (ZMMC) and President of the Union of Miners and Metallurgists of Armenia, during his report at the Mining Armenia Forum.

ArmInfo.There are only 34 new copper projects in the world, five times fewer than the number required just for electric vehicle production over the next 25 years.  This was stated by Roman Khudoliy, the CEO of the Zangezur Copper and Molybdenum Plant (ZMMK), during his speech at the opening of the Mining Armenia Forum. The Forum was held on the topic of <Modern mining industry: problems and opportunities of Armenia's resources in the context of the global economy>.

ArmInfo.The Armenian economy is going through a turning point.  The latest statistics on GDP growth  revealed an alarming reality: the country's economic recovery, which has been so celebrated lately, was mainly built on unstable, exogenous factors, and economic growth was just an illusion. During this period, the sector has become a key contributor to GDP growth, accounting for 1-3 percentage points. But recent data from the last two quarters show a concerning picture, indicating that currently the sector is encountering serious problems.

ArmInfo. The Armenian government has identified tax collection as its KPI (key performance indicator), for evaluating its activities. This is the viewpoint of Aghasi Tavadyan, an associate professor at the Armenian State University of Economics. He references the Laffer curve concept and emphasizes the necessity of developing a more balanced tax policy. 

ArmInfo.For the first time, based on the results of May 2024, the share of internal debt in the structure of Armenia's public debt exceeded 50%. This has its positive and negative sides, and primarily to ensure the 7% GDP growth promised by the authorities.
