ArmInfo.Under the chairmanship of RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, a meeting was held on August 21 to discuss issues related to institutional reforms in  the field of technical control over construction quality.

ArmInfo.For the second consecutive year, the Armenian banking system has maintained a high growth rate of non-performing loans (NPLs). This is evidenced by the Financial Rating of Armenian Banks as of June 30, 2026, prepared by IC ArmInfo on the basis of published financial statements and additionally requested data (including credit risk data). According to analysts, NPL growth, which barely slowed from 39% to 32% year-on-year by mid-year, is nevertheless increasingly weighing on profits, which are "melting" due to write-offs.

ArmInfo. Recently, Armenian company Prime Insurance Brokers announced its entry into Lloyd’s of London, the world’s oldest and largest insurance and reinsurance marketplace. The Company has received Lloyd’s accreditation and has been registered as a Lloyd’s broker, gaining direct access to the world’s leading insurance and reinsurance market.

ArmInfo. Imprisoned businessman and leader of the "Prosperous Armenia" party, Gagik Tsarukyan, has highlighted the critical role of private enterprise in  the country's development while warning of growing vulnerabilities in external export markets. In a statement posted on his social media  page, Tsarukyan cautioned that Armenian goods are rapidly losing their footing abroad and being replaced by Azerbaijani alternatives. 

ArmInfo.  The opening of the Firebird AI plant in Hrazdan and the deployment of the highly  powerful NVIDIA Blackwell/Rubin infrastructure (18 MW currently, 300  MW in the future) is truly a significant achievement, allowing  Armenia to take a truly prominent place on the global technological  map. ArmInfo.  Armenia's dominant export, mineral raw materials, has increased significantly in volume,  while its main import, machinery and equipment, has achieved double-  digit growth from stagnation. This is evidenced by data from the  Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia for the first half  of 2026.

As a result of problems arising in certain export markets, the risk of a decline in income in the Armenian economy has increased, as well as the formation of an excess supply of certain goods, which has a predominantly  deflationary impact, as noted in the Central Bank of Armenia's  justification for its decision to maintain the refinancing rate at  6.5% this time.

ArmInfo. Armenia's gross international reserves (GIR) surged by 45.7% year-on-year, or by  $1.852 billion, reaching a historic high of $5.899 billion by July  2026, according to data released by the Central Bank of the Republic  of Armenia. By comparison, growth during the same period in 2025 was  a more modest 20.7% (or $693.2 million), bringing reserves to $4.047  billion.

ArmInfo. Since the beginning of the year, the number of beneficiaries of the universal  health insurance system has increased by 14%, as announced by Samvel  Kharazyan, Acting Director General of the Universal Health Insurance  Fund, during a July 22 press conference .

ArmInfo. Armenian authorities continue to harass the business of businessman Gagik Tsarukyan, leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party. The State Revenue Committee of Armenia has accused Onira Club LLC, which represents the Pharaoh recreation and entertainment complex and is part of the Multi Group concern, of tax evasion.

ArmInfo. One of the most alarming features of the Armenian government's Medium-Term  Expenditure Program for 2027-2029 is the overly optimistic nature of  the economic growth forecasts, according to an analytical study by  the Luys Foundation.

ArmInfo.Although Armenian fish farmers received permission to export fish and fish products to EU markets last year, the list of requirements for  producers was only officially approved today during a meeting of the Armenian government.

ArmInfo.  The Ministry of Technology and Industry of Armenia and the Civil Operations  Headquarters of the European External Action Service (EEAS) confirmed  their readiness to continue cooperation to develop Armenia's digital  sector and cybersecurity, strengthen institutional capacity, and  implement joint initiatives. This was reported by the ministry's  press service, citing the results of a meeting between Deputy  Minister Gevorg Mantashyan and the EU delegation led by EEAS  Executive Director Stefano Tomat, who arrived from Brussels.

ArmInfo.  The State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia (SRC) has received information regarding possible cases of tax evasion, understatement of sales volumes, and reduction of tax liabilities through fictitious (non-commodity) transactions by business entities operating in the  construction materials sector.

ArmInfo.    There is a growing risk of scam calls targeting the most vulnerable category of citizens -pensioners. The scheme relies on social engineering: criminals simulate calls from an official agency or companies managing pension savings, and under the pretext of an "accounting error", they attempt to gain access to the victims' money.

Twelve banks have already joined the ArcaPay system, and eight have joined ArcaQR, with the majority participating in both, as stated by Vardan  Khachatryan, Chairman of the Management Board and Executive Director of Armenian Card, during a press conference He noted that banks are  currently in the integration phase for an additional ArcaPay function: B2B services for legal entities.
